Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical strategy for Ingress Security with Server, Atlas, SRE, and Product Security stakeholders.
- Own the planning and execution of technical solutions for ambiguous, high-impact security and networking problems.
- Design, implement, and operate production-ready security services in Rust with emphasis on security, correctness, performance, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate on roadmaps that improve the security posture of MongoDB’s ingress stack.
- Advise teams and leadership on engineering complexity, risk, and inter-project dependencies.
- Handle time-sensitive escalations and production incidents requiring expert Ingress Security support.
- Diagnose and fix test failures, bugs, performance regressions, and other defects.
- Interview software engineering candidates and help cultivate the team’s talent bench.
- Maintain expertise in systems security, network security, and memory-safe systems programming research.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience building production-quality systems software with a large user base.
- Experience with large backend or compiled codebases and performance-sensitive software, preferably Rust.
- Strong systems fundamentals, including multithreaded programming and performance profiling.
- Understanding of network protocols, TLS, and connection lifecycle management is preferred.
- Familiarity with attack surface reduction, input validation, memory safety, and defense-in-depth architectures is preferred.
- Strong technical communication, mentorship, time management, and project complexity assessment skills.
- B.Sc. in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design and architecture.
- Interest in high-availability, security-critical systems and ongoing learning in computer science and software engineering.
