Base Salary

$99k - $167k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate cloud platform and DevOps capabilities across AWS and GCP.
  • Develop and manage an internal developer portal using Backstage.io, including custom plugins, the Software Catalog, and Scaffolder templates.
  • Customize Backstage with TypeScript, Node.js, and React to improve developer experience and enable self-service workflows.
  • Design and operate Kubernetes platforms, including cluster lifecycle, upgrades, workload onboarding, ingress, service discovery, and secrets/configuration management.
  • Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform, Crossplane, and reusable infrastructure modules.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, releases, artifact management, and environment deployments.
  • Manage software artifacts and dependencies with JFrog Artifactory.
  • Implement GitOps and deployment automation patterns for Kubernetes and cloud workloads.
  • Establish observability with Datadog, including monitors, dashboards, APM, distributed tracing, logging, and alerting.
  • Apply SRE and operational practices involving SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, capacity, performance, incident response, and runbooks.
  • Troubleshoot complex distributed systems and proactively resolve platform issues.
  • Apply DevSecOps practices including secrets management, vulnerability scanning, least privilege, supply-chain controls, and automated policy enforcement.
  • Integrate services and tools through APIs and secure communication patterns.
  • Travel up to 10%.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience delivering and operating cloud platforms in AWS and GCP, including compute, storage, networking, IAM, and managed Kubernetes.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and managing an internal developer portal, preferably with Backstage.io.
  • Expertise developing custom Backstage plugins and customizing Backstage with TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
  • Experience managing the Backstage Software Catalog and Scaffolder.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Crossplane, and cloud infrastructure automation.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and integrating build, test, release, artifact, and deployment automation.
  • Experience with GitOps tooling and deployment patterns, such as Argo CD or Flux.
  • Proficiency with scripting or programming in Python, Go, Java, Shell, or Bash, plus strong Linux fundamentals.
  • Experience with Datadog and full-stack observability, including monitoring, dashboards, APM, and distributed tracing.
  • Understanding of SRE principles, SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Knowledge of web development and API design, including REST and GraphQL.
  • Experience with Git, software development lifecycle practices, and platform-as-a-product operating models.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking fundamentals, including VPC/VNet design, DNS, routing, load balancing, proxies, firewalls, and TLS certificates.
  • Experience integrating services and tools through APIs and secure communication patterns.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, including secrets management, vulnerability scanning, least privilege, software signing, SBOMs, and automated policy enforcement.
  • Ability to work within the stated flex office/home arrangement and reside within the required radius of an eligible office location.
