Responsibilities
- Operate and implement new features in the team’s frameworks and managed services.
- Engage with data scientists to improve their experience and productivity with the framework and services.
- Identify and implement computational improvements.
- Submit patches and bug fixes to open-source projects in the technology stack, including Spark, Iceberg, Hadoop, and Airflow.
- Serve as an expert in Spark and Scala.
- Mentor engineers through pairing, design discussions, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Help improve quality, reliability, and engineering practices across the team.
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of software engineering experience.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Math, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience and proficiency in Scala or other JVM-based languages.
- Experience with Spark or other large-scale data-processing frameworks.
- Experience with Kubernetes is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Amazon Web Services, including EC2, S3, and Athena.
- Interest in backend technologies, architecture, mathematics, statistics, or adtech technology is valued.
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
