Base Salary

$212k - $265k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and refinement of systems powering payments compliance.
  • Drive architecture and implementation for compliance experiences, regulatory screening, information collection, and continuous auditing systems.
  • Design service-oriented, configurable, auditable, scalable, available, and efficient systems that leverage existing Airbnb capabilities.
  • Establish technical vision and build alignment across engineering and cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Policy, Operations, and globally distributed engineering teams to define and ship features.
  • Lead and mentor engineers inside and outside the immediate team.
  • Drive systemic improvements that streamline development, reduce toil, and improve technical quality and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of industry experience in a fast-paced technology environment.
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and cross-team leadership skills.
  • Experience leading a team responsible for on-call production systems.
  • Hands-on experience leading project teams and setting technical direction and strategy.
  • Proficiency in one or more backend server languages, including Java, Ruby, Go, or C++.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks such as React.
  • Exposure to architectural patterns for high-scale web and data applications.
  • Prior knowledge of regulatory compliance standards and experience implementing related controls is preferred.
