Responsibilities
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical distributed systems with ownership of reliability, performance, and availability.
- Deliver new features and drive projects from initial concept and requirements gathering through production operations.
- Improve the efficiency, resilience, and performance of Mimir metrics processing, storage, and querying systems.
- Write and review pull requests and design documents, support teammates, and contribute to open-source projects.
- Shepherd automated release rollouts and participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotations for owned services.
- Use observability practices and customer feedback to iterate on cloud products and services.
Requirements
- Solid experience with at least one programming language, with Go used by the team and Python, C, C++, or Rust considered transferable.
- Experience leading and delivering software projects from requirements and ideation through customer shipment.
- Experience developing cloud software or working in systems engineering.
- Experience with on-call responsibilities and the DevOps model.
- Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software.
- Familiarity with observability systems, including knowing when to use metrics, logs, and traces for debugging.
- Comfort with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience and comfort developing with LLMs such as Claude and Codex in daily work.
- Kubernetes experience, queue-system experience such as the Kafka protocol, Grafana or Prometheus operational experience, and infrastructure-as-code familiarity are bonus qualifications.
