Responsibilities
- Develop complex, production-ready features for the MarineTraffic and Kpler mobile applications using mobile architecture and platform conventions.
- Design and evolve the scalable Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and PostGIS mobile Backend-for-Frontend.
- Lead code reviews, automated unit, integration, and contract testing, observability, and improvements to engineering practices.
- Contribute to product and UX decisions with product managers and designers while owning outcomes.
- Maintain and optimise AI/LLM tooling such as Cursor and Claude Code so agents produce code to team standards.
- Mentor peers, contribute to the Front-end Chapter, and support platformisation across business teams.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience.
- Strong experience building and shipping consumer mobile applications at scale for more than one million users.
- Solid production experience with Flutter and Dart.
- Solid experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and GraphQL API design for scalable services.
- Excellent knowledge of mobile architecture, performance, testing, and observability, with a strong Clean Code and Clean Architecture culture.
- Strong understanding of Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines and the ability to create polished, accessible user experiences.
- Experience contributing to product and UX decisions with product managers and designers.
- Professional-level written and spoken English.
- Desirable experience includes platform engineering or inner-source environments, GraphQL federation, geospatial technologies, Mapbox, PostGIS, Kafka, Airflow, or GeoServer.
