Base Salary
$220k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own a major technical area of Ray Core end to end, including roadmap, technical problem selection, execution, and production delivery.
- Lead technically complex, multi-quarter projects spanning multiple engineers, teams, or organizations.
- Set technical direction and make architectural decisions for distributed computing infrastructure.
- Design, build, and evolve distributed-systems primitives rather than primarily integrating existing platforms or frameworks.
- Work on distributed execution, scheduling, resource management, fault tolerance, concurrency, networking, storage, and system performance.
- Remain hands-on with implementation and debugging while mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar.
- Help shape the long-term architecture and evolution of Ray Core as workloads and scale grow.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience with increasing technical ownership.
- Experience leading substantial projects end to end, including problem definition, roadmapping, architecture, implementation, and production outcomes.
- Experience leading projects larger than a single-engineer effort and spanning multiple engineers and multiple quarters.
- Deep experience with distributed systems and computer systems, rather than primarily using existing distributed platforms.
- Strong systems programming experience in C++, Rust, Java, or similar lower-level languages.
- Strong understanding of multithreading and concurrency, distributed coordination, resource management, fault tolerance, performance, or networking.
- Relevant experience with databases, streaming systems, distributed runtimes, operating systems, schedulers, storage systems, Spark, Kafka, or similar infrastructure.
- Track record of mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar of surrounding teams.
- Contributions to open-source infrastructure projects are nice to have.
