Responsibilities
- Evaluate business requirements and processes, prepare application specifications, and develop, test, and implement cost-effective applications.
- Provide design leadership and direction for new systems development.
- Establish change-control and product-migration procedures.
- Own application and system-related problems and maintain existing applications according to established architecture and standards.
- Review business requirements and test plans and provide technical feedback to Business Analysts.
- Perform unit testing and participate in systems integration and parallel testing.
- Support Business Analysts and end users during testing, training, and demonstrations.
- Provide rotating on-call support for production systems.
- Write technical documentation and document code according to project standards.
- Collaborate with employees, management, clients, and vendors.
- Provide technical coaching and mentoring to systems development team members.
- Complete special projects and other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of software development experience.
- Experience developing systems with Visual Basic.NET, SQL Server, and XML.
- Experience developing full-stack systems across front-end and back-end layers, including databases and APIs.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, code management applications such as GitHub, and DevOps deployment.
- English language proficiency.
- Preferred experience in life, disability, or long-term care insurance.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, analytical, time-management, prioritization, collaboration, independence, and initiative skills.
- Ability to learn and work with third-party software vendors and systems.
- Ability to mentor and coach others.
