Responsibilities
- Drive the design, development, implementation, documentation, testing, and deployment of large-scale platform solutions.
- Lead the design and evolution of Control Plane and Data Plane architecture for high availability, throughput, and real-time feature serving.
- Define high-level and low-level designs, drive architecture discussions and technical decisions, and establish quality and non-functional standards.
- Build and operate distributed systems supporting streaming, messaging, telemetry, observability, data processing, and data-lake workloads.
- Develop Java/Spring Boot microservices and RESTful web services, production-grade APIs, SDKs, and platform services.
- Work with Kafka, data stores, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, streaming and batch pipelines, and MLOps workflows.
- Partner with Product Management, business owners, architects, platform teams, analytics teams, and global engineering organizations.
- Mentor engineers, participate in hiring, help build high-performing teams, and contribute to the engineering community and open-source technologies.
- Own technical debt and modernization efforts and help shape the long-term product roadmap.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area, or six years of software engineering experience; equivalent experience is accepted.
- At least four years of software engineering or related experience under the degree-based minimum qualification, with the position requirements also stating 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Technical leadership experience driving architecture decisions, mentoring engineers, and delivering complex cross-team projects.
- Deep expertise in distributed-systems design, including high availability, data consistency, fault tolerance, and horizontal scalability.
- Strong proficiency in Java and/or Python, preferably with production-grade SDK, API, or platform-service development experience.
- Experience with GCP services including BigQuery, Bigtable, GCS, Dataproc, and Airflow, and/or Azure.
- Experience designing and operating Cassandra, Bigtable, Redis, BigQuery, Hive, and GCS at scale.
- Experience with Kafka, Spark Streaming, or Airflow for streaming and batch data pipelines.
- Understanding of MLOps, feature engineering, model-training pipelines, real-time inference, and ML lifecycle management.
- Experience with Kubernetes and container-based microservices architectures.
- End-to-end ownership of at least one cloud-based project.
- Experience with Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or similar observability stacks.
- Experience with Apache Feast is an additional qualification.
- Master’s degree in a related field plus two years of software engineering experience is preferred.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, facilitation, consensus-building, mentoring, and coaching skills are required.
