Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and debug embedded firmware for 802.15.4 Thread-based devices running on an RTOS and embedded Linux.
- Integrate and maintain the OpenThread stack and Matter commissioning and data-model layers.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers on SoC/MCU bring-up and debug radio timing, RF, low-power, and driver-level issues.
- Implement and troubleshoot Thread border routing, SRP, and network commissioning and joining flows, including Wi-Fi and Ethernet bridging.
- Diagnose firmware issues with JTAG/SWD debuggers, logic analyzers, protocol sniffers, and packet captures.
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews.
- Contribute to OTA update pipelines and manufacturing and production test tooling.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in C++ and C for embedded systems, with approximately 99% of the codebase in C++.
- Hands-on experience with an RTOS such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
- Solid MCU debugging skills and networking fundamentals, including IPv6 and TCP/UDP.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills, with the ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
- Embedded Linux experience is preferred.
- Linux kernel development experience is preferred.
- Experience with 802.15.4 Thread or comparable low-power mesh protocols such as Zigbee or Bluetooth Mesh is preferred.
- Experience with OpenWRT, Yocto, or Buildroot build systems is preferred.
- Matter/CHIP, OpenThread, and vendor embedded SDK experience such as ESP-IDF or nRF Connect SDK is preferred.
