Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and ship primarily Modern C++ firmware features for real-time embedded systems.
- Develop and integrate system-level firmware across complex embedded platforms with multiple processors and controllers.
- Drive end-to-end system testing and validation using unit tests, software simulations, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and prototype testing.
- Optimize firmware through hardware co-design while ensuring system-level performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate, test, and troubleshoot prototype and production designs.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least two years of experience in a similar non-academic embedded software or firmware engineering role.
- Expert-level C++ and software fundamentals, including algorithms, object-oriented design, modularity, maintainability, and data structures.
- Significant experience with real-time operating systems and multithreaded firmware development.
- Expertise in bare-metal and Zephyr RTOS environments.
- Familiarity with ARM Cortex-M0/M4/M7 controllers and multi-core architecture.
- Ability to troubleshoot firmware issues in complex multi-controller systems and drive solutions.
- Experience with unit testing, hardware-in-the-loop testing, external test equipment, and system validation.
- Knowledge of ADC, GPIO, PWM, UART, I2C, and SPI microcontroller peripherals.
- Familiarity with Docker, GCC, GDB, VS Code, GNU Make, and CMake.
- Experience with Git version control and ownership of development tasks through completion.
- Preferred experience includes system-level firmware, hardware, and software integration; AI-assisted development tools; industrial communications protocols; CAN sniffers, grid simulators, and programmable loads; ARM Cortex-A53/A55; Embedded Yocto/Linux; Python; scripting; CI/CD pipelines; and containerized build environments.
