Responsibilities
- Define the architecture and technical direction for OCI’s network monitoring and observability platform.
- Architect scalable telemetry ingestion, streaming, processing, storage, querying, visualization, metrics, alerting, and network health analytics systems.
- Lead distributed-systems architecture addressing scalability, latency, availability, durability, consistency, fault tolerance, and operational efficiency.
- Establish standards and SLOs for telemetry quality, freshness, correctness, availability, and observability-platform health.
- Lead diagnosis, escalation, root-cause analysis, and systemic resolution of complex production incidents across networking, infrastructure, and distributed systems.
- Develop monitoring and analytics for Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks, topology, reachability, performance, device health, and abnormal behavior.
- Set technical direction across multiple organizations, influence architecture decisions, mentor senior engineers, and contribute to technical talent development.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in large-scale distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, distributed state management, high availability, fault tolerance, capacity planning, and performance engineering.
- Experience with observability architecture, metrics and telemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, time-series data, high-cardinality metrics, alerting, dashboards, SLOs, and monitoring distributed environments.
- Experience with Kafka, Flink or equivalent technologies, real-time stream processing, event-driven architectures, partitioning, aggregation, backpressure, and large-scale telemetry processing.
- Strong networking knowledge covering Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, routing, switching, network topology, BGP, LLDP, SNMP, gNMI, network failure modes, and performance troubleshooting.
- Experience designing or operating systems that collect and correlate telemetry from large fleets of network devices.
- Strong software engineering expertise in Java, Go, or comparable systems programming languages, including highly concurrent and performance-sensitive production services.
- Expertise in reliability engineering, distributed failure handling, load shedding, throttling, rate limiting, incident response, root-cause analysis, and production readiness.
- Experience with automated deployment, configuration management, safe rollout and rollback strategies, and operating large infrastructure fleets.
- Knowledge of secure multi-tenant cloud architectures, authentication and authorization, encryption, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure telemetry security.
- Experience building observability or telemetry platforms for large-scale cloud or network infrastructure is strongly preferred.
