Responsibilities
- Lead the development, maintenance, and optimization of Linux and VMware initiator stacks, including NVMe over Fabrics, FC-SCSI, and iSCSI, plus target drivers.
- Architect Fibre Channel and NIC driver enhancements for reliability, availability, serviceability, multipathing, and link-health monitoring.
- Mentor senior and junior engineers, conduct deep-dive code reviews, and set technical standards for kernel-space C, C++, and Python development.
- Act as the final escalation point for challenging field and internal system bugs, using protocol analyzers and kernel-debugging tools for root-cause analysis.
- Optimize initiator throughput and latency and contribute performance enhancements and bug fixes to the upstream Linux kernel.
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate FlashArray with Linux and VMware ecosystems.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in Linux/Unix kernel development and robust device-driver development in storage or networking subsystems.
- Deep command of storage protocols including NVMe, NVMe over Fabrics, Fibre Channel, SCSI, FCP, and iSCSI, with experience designing and implementing substantial stack components.
- Experience leading complex engineering projects from conception through delivery and mentoring engineers.
- Expert-level debugging of complex system and kernel issues, including use of performance-analysis tools to optimize storage bottlenecks.
- Strong C, C++, and Python development skills in kernel-space engineering.
- Ability to work primarily from the designated office location under company policy.
