Responsibilities
- Lead and implement complex changes and highly scalable applications.
- Provide technical leadership, subject matter expertise, and strategic direction across the engineering team and broader organization.
- Customize, enhance, troubleshoot, document, and estimate work for software components.
- Review technical approaches, conduct code reviews, and maintain performant, testable code using strong design patterns.
- Mentor and coach developers on coding and technical practices.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects, the Engineering Manager, and senior developers to maintain and improve the codebase.
- Drive improvements to software platforms, customer solutions, deployment practices, developer tooling, and workflows.
- Support hiring by helping evaluate and select engineering team members.
- Prioritize testing, monitoring, observability, production ownership, root-cause analysis, profiling, and impact analysis.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience as an individual contributor.
- Expertise in backend Java 8 and higher development.
- In-depth knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data, Hibernate, Java Reflection, inversion of control, aspect-oriented programming, object-oriented programming, and object-oriented design.
- Strong experience with AWS Lambda, Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, Amazon RDS, and Amazon DynamoDB.
- Experience with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL, as well as NoSQL databases.
- Experience with unit and integration testing, test automation, monitoring, observability, production troubleshooting, profiling, and impact analysis.
- Expertise in application security, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and security testing.
- Experience with messaging queues, preferably RabbitMQ or ActiveMQ/Artemis.
- Strong analytical, research, communication, interpersonal, mentoring, and technical problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Elasticsearch cluster optimization or Atlassian products and plugin ecosystems is advantageous.
