Base Salary
$162k - $199k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of complex team-level projects across Metadata services.
- Design and own architectures and subsystems for discovery API, catalog, lineage, and run history capabilities.
- Set technical direction, review designs, and uphold architecture, coding, documentation, and quality standards.
- Fix and optimize critical code, drive incident follow-through, and improve service reliability and performance.
- Coach and mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance.
- Use AI tooling and agents across development and software development lifecycle artifacts.
- Participate periodically in the on-call rotation.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience leading complex, team-scope technical work.
- Deep experience designing and owning subsystems in distributed, cloud-based systems.
- Demonstrated ability to set technical direction and lead multi-engineer initiatives.
- Strong design, architecture, coding, code review, coaching, and engineering quality judgment.
- Experience partnering with QE on test strategy and owning incidents, post-mortems, reliability, and performance.
- Proficiency in a modern backend or systems language such as Python, Java, C++, or C#.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; Docker and Kubernetes; and development infrastructure.
- Fluency with AI coding assistants, coding agents, and conversational AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT.
- Bonus: experience with ETL or ELT, cloud data platforms, metadata, catalogs, lineage, discovery or search systems, GraphQL APIs, high-throughput multi-tenant data services, analytics engineering, or the dbt ecosystem.
