Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own telemetry pipelines, instrumentation libraries, alerting standards, and dashboards used across the organization.
- Develop self-service tooling, including backend APIs and user-facing interfaces, for deploying, detecting, alerting, and mitigating issues in AWS environments.
- Implement and troubleshoot IAM permissions, and promote cloud security and operational best practices.
- Build and maintain operational data pipelines for reliability KPIs and dashboards, contributing to anomaly detection and intelligent alerting.
- Advise development teams on instrumentation, service design, and deployments.
- Participate in the platform-services on-call rotation and mentor engineers through pairing and code review.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including internal platforms, developer tooling, or observability systems.
- Strong production-quality Python development skills.
- Hands-on experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or OpenTelemetry, including service instrumentation and alert definition.
- Experience deploying and operating AWS solutions, including IAM administration, policy creation, and infrastructure as code with Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience with platform engineering, API development, and database schema design.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Spinnaker.
- Familiarity with Docker, containerization, Unix/Linux systems, and operational troubleshooting.
- Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred: frontend experience with React and TypeScript for internal tooling.
- Preferred: experience with Spark, Databricks, Airflow, or Kinesis; machine learning for operations; GenAI, LLMs, or agents; SSL certificate management; AWS and general networking; cloud cost management; resource scaling; or AWS certifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a comparable field, or equivalent training or work experience.
