Senior Backend Engineer, Core APIs

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize backend systems for real-time data processing and web services.
- Integrate backend components with other services while ensuring performance and scalability.
- Investigate problematic features through research, experiments, analysis, and actionable engineering improvements.
- Perform performance tuning, debugging, and testing to ensure backend reliability and efficiency.
- Share engineering best practices and collaborate on cross-functional projects.
- Participate in a shared on-call rotation.
- Mentor junior developers and help team members grow.
- Own features from concept through final deployment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend development experience.
- Strong experience with Go and/or Node.js, with willingness to learn.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems.
- Experience building and optimizing APIs, real-time data processing systems, and microservices architectures.
- Strong SQL knowledge and experience with databases such as DynamoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
- Proficiency with software engineering tools including Git, IDEs, shell scripting, and CI/CD.
- Proficiency in English for communication in a global remote team.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong desire to mentor and grow junior team members.
- Nice-to-have education includes a BS/MS in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Nice-to-have experience includes Terraform or AWS CloudFormation, analytical storage systems, observability tools, Docker, Kubernetes, large open-source projects, both Node.js and Go, and Internet security and privacy mechanisms.
