Responsibilities
- Build and deliver scalable, maintainable, secure, and high-performing full-stack software solutions.
- Develop and manage robust RESTful APIs supporting Barclays’ API-first digital strategy.
- Implement enterprise applications using Java, Spring, microservices, event-driven architecture, databases, and messaging platforms.
- Apply secure coding, API authentication, automated testing, code reviews, and code-quality controls.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and stakeholders to define requirements and solution strategies.
- Mentor junior developers, guide technical direction, and contribute to technology communities.
- Analyze complex technical problems, manage risks and controls, and recommend innovative solutions.
- Support continuous improvement and operational excellence across development and delivery processes.
Requirements
- Advanced full-stack development skills with extensive hands-on experience in Core Java, JPA/Hibernate, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring-JMS, and Spring-Data.
- Strong experience building secure, fault-tolerant, and scalable enterprise applications.
- Expertise developing and consuming RESTful APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
- Hands-on experience with OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, and other API security mechanisms.
- Advanced database development skills with relational and NoSQL technologies, including SQL optimization and Oracle performance tuning.
- Experience with event-driven architecture, microservices, Kafka, and enterprise messaging platforms.
- Strong technical leadership, mentoring, code review, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Experience using SonarQube, Veracode, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, Nexus, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Awareness of OpenShift Enterprise, AWS, and cloud-native application development.
- Working knowledge of TDD, BDD, automated testing, and tools such as Selenium.
- Preferred experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Angular, React, API client SDKs, developer documentation, API gateways, service meshes, proxies, Docker, Kubernetes, ITIL-based release management, API analytics, observability, and code-level instrumentation.
- Familiarity with AI coding agents, specification-driven development, and advanced code-level troubleshooting.
