Responsibilities
- Architect, build, deploy, monitor, and optimize enterprise-grade AI applications, APIs, microservices, and data pipelines.
- Integrate LLMs, agentic systems, and AI/ML models with business systems at scale.
- Lead containerization and cloud-native deployments using Docker and Kubernetes, including EKS/ECS environments.
- Design event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar streaming platforms for real-time data processing and AI inference.
- Rapidly prototype solutions, deconstruct ambiguous business problems, and iterate based on stakeholder feedback and measurable business impact.
- Serve as a senior technical advisor to business units and executive stakeholders, communicating architecture decisions, trade-offs, risks, and recommendations.
- Lead cross-functional delivery with data scientists, data engineers, platform, infrastructure, security, privacy, microservice, and product teams.
- Bring field insights back to AI/Data and Platform teams, identify reusable patterns, and advocate for platform, tooling, and developer-experience improvements.
- Document solution architectures, design patterns, and operational runbooks; define engineering standards and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred but not required.
- At least one relevant certification is required, such as an AWS certification, Kubernetes certification, or AI/ML or cloud certification.
- 6-8+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend or full-stack development.
- 4+ years deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
- Experience leading or architecting at least three production AI systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience building and operating event-driven or streaming data systems, including Kafka or Kinesis.
- Track record delivering technical solutions in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and leading technical engagements with senior or executive stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading cross-functional delivery teams.
- Preferred experience includes Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Technical Consultant work; generative AI, LLM, or agentic AI applications; travel, hospitality, or cruise industry experience; shipboard or disconnected computing; and platform engineering, developer tooling, or infrastructure automation.
