Base Salary
$210k - $255k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the detection stack, including heuristics, threshold calibration, precision/recall tuning, and rule systems.
- Design and maintain anomaly detection pipelines for straggler nodes, GPU health signals, and fleet-level behavioral baselines.
- Reduce false positives, increase signal coverage, and build feedback loops that maintain detection accuracy as the fleet grows.
- Evaluate and integrate machine learning and reinforcement learning techniques when they outperform rule-based approaches.
- Ship end-to-end customer-facing features across the alert rule engine, control plane APIs, automated action systems, and insights delivery surfaces.
- Build new systems from scratch and scale existing services for Crusoe’s growing global fleet.
- Collaborate with product counterparts and data scientists on requirements and detection-model validation.
- Contribute architectural perspectives, evaluate technical trade-offs, mentor engineers, and support hiring.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience shipping production software.
- Deep experience building anomaly detection systems, heuristics-based rule engines, or ML/RL systems for infrastructure or data-intensive domains.
- Demonstrated ability to manage precision/recall trade-offs, calibrate thresholds, and build feedback loops for accurate detection.
- Strong distributed-systems fundamentals and ability to participate in system design discussions.
- Experience with modern compiled or systems languages such as Go, Rust, C++, Java, or similar.
- Fluency with time-series data, telemetry pipelines, and observability primitives.
- Clear communication of detection logic, trade-offs, and system behavior to technical and non-technical partners.
- Experience with GPU profiling tools such as Nsight or NCCL Inspector, hardware-level infrastructure diagnostics, observability platforms, reinforcement learning for operational problems, fleet management, or cloud infrastructure is a bonus.
