Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement scalable Java and Spring Boot microservices and distributed applications.
- Drive performance engineering across application, middleware, JVM, API, and database layers.
- Tune and optimize Oracle and PostgreSQL databases through query analysis, indexing, schema design, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Contribute to Google Cloud Platform modernization and cloud-native architecture initiatives.
- Design integrations with Snowflake and support data platform modernization, ingestion, ETL/ELT, and application connectivity.
- Apply engineering practices including code reviews, design reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and operational excellence.
- Contribute to architectural decisions involving scalability, reliability, performance, concurrency, and cloud adoption.
- Mentor and coach engineers and provide technical guidance through peer reviews and engineering standards.
Requirements
- 9+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong Java and microservices expertise.
- Significant experience designing enterprise-scale, highly scalable distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
- Deep proficiency in microservices architecture, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures.
- Proven experience with JVM tuning, memory management, garbage collection, concurrency, profiling, diagnostics, and production performance troubleshooting.
- Strong expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL, including SQL tuning, execution plans, indexing, schema optimization, scalability, and performance monitoring.
- Experience with business-critical systems where performance, scalability, reliability, and availability are essential.
- Experience integrating enterprise applications with Snowflake and understanding cloud-based data platform architectures.
- Experience deploying applications on public cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
- Understanding of scalability, distributed systems, caching, concurrency, and performance engineering principles.
- Preferred experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, RabbitMQ, observability platforms, monitoring frameworks, SRE practices, infrastructure as code, data platforms, Python or other scripting languages, Git, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Prior technical leadership, mentoring, and development-team guidance experience, plus responsible use of AI tools.
