Responsibilities
- Design, develop, configure, and maintain IBM Sterling OMS solutions for distributed order management, reverse logistics, payments, inventory, Order Hub, and call center capabilities.
- Customize and extend Sterling OMS using Java, user exits, agents, event handlers, custom APIs, and transaction extensions.
- Configure and optimize order lifecycle flows, sourcing rules, release management, and fulfillment logic.
- Build integrations between Sterling OMS and ERP, POS, inventory, payment, and shipping systems using RESTful/SOAP APIs, JMS, and asynchronous messaging.
- Design SQL schemas, tune Sterling OMS data models, and optimize query and transaction performance.
- Troubleshoot Sterling OMS configurations, customizations, and integrations and perform root cause analysis for production issues.
- Apply clean architecture, modular design, automated testing, peer reviews, coding standards, secure coding, and dependency scanning.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and guidance on Sterling OMS and Java development.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of strong, hands-on IBM Sterling Order Management System experience in enterprise implementation, configuration, and customization.
- Hands-on experience customizing Sterling OMS Order Hub and/or Next Gen Call Center modules.
- Strong Java development experience with Sterling OMS extension frameworks, including user exits, agents, event handlers, and custom APIs.
- Practical experience designing, building, and deploying microservices.
- Hands-on experience with GCP or equivalent cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS, plus Docker and Kubernetes.
- Deep understanding of Sterling OMS architecture, including order lifecycle, transaction and agent frameworks, rule engines, sourcing, and inventory management.
- Experience with RESTful/SOAP APIs, XML, JSON, and asynchronous integration patterns such as JMS, Kafka, or MQ.
- Solid SQL database experience, including schema design and query and transaction performance optimization.
- Understanding of cloud-native design patterns and data structures.
- Experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, or automotive order fulfillment domains.
- Preferred experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
- Preferred exposure to React.js, JavaScript, or TypeScript for supporting user interfaces or dashboards.
- Preferred experience with OpenShift Container Platform and automation frameworks such as Selenium and Playwright.
- Familiarity with modern engineering productivity tooling and AI-assisted development concepts.
