Base Salary
$170k - $290k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build, operate, and improve Render’s usage-based billing systems
- Integrate and maintain third-party billing systems such as Orb and Metronome
- Collaborate with Finance, Product, and Support Engineering on accurate billing and reporting
- Capture, transform, and reconcile usage data using large-scale databases and data pipelines
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve billing reliability and performance
- Contribute to architectural decisions for billing integration with the broader Render platform
- Help develop internal billing processes, documentation, and best practices
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional experience building or operating usage-based billing systems
- Hands-on experience integrating third-party billing platforms such as Orb, Metronome, Stripe, or similar
- Strong expertise in Go and production-grade SQL or NoSQL databases
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Finance, Customer Experience, and Product teams
- Detail-oriented ownership of mission-critical systems with strong problem-solving and pragmatic judgment
- Experience in a high-growth startup or scaling environment is preferred
- Familiarity with financial reconciliation and reporting processes is preferred
- Background in distributed systems or event-driven architectures is preferred
- Willingness to mentor others and help scale engineering culture is preferred
