Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Partner with technology teams to establish architectures that meet Southwest technology standards.
- Define technical strategies and roadmaps for business-domain products and product lines.
- Act as a trusted advisor by translating business intent and non-functional requirements into comprehensive architectures.
- Evaluate solution alternatives, build-versus-buy decisions, integration complexity, and technical risk.
- Research emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve business value and technical competency.
- Design, build, refactor, or operate large-scale distributed IT projects on premises or in the cloud.
- Contribute to hiring, coaching, and mentoring technology teams.
- Promote and contribute to Southwest technology standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a similar field, or equivalent advanced-level experience, is required.
- Expert-level experience and expansive knowledge in the architecture design and implementation of large-scale distributed systems are required.
- Knowledge of a modern programming language such as Python, JavaScript, Go, .NET, or Java is required.
- Knowledge of technology domains including distributed web systems, mobile applications, cloud, event streams, DevOps, serverless, big data, and analytics is required.
- Experience with architecture design tools such as Draw.io or Visio, software programming paradigms, and software versioning practices such as Git is required.
- Airline or travel industry experience is preferred.
- Airline reservation systems, modern retail systems, offer/order systems, pricing, fulfillment, transactions, or broader commerce-domain experience is preferred.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States, be at least 18 years old, meet attendance standards, and be able to travel as needed.
