Base Salary
$240k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and build backend financial services that enable receivers to save and spend funds in their home countries.
- Define APIs, data models, event-driven architectures, resiliency practices, and observability for systems serving millions of users.
- Integrate receiver capabilities with global disbursement, foreign exchange, liquidity, and compliance infrastructure.
- Embed AML, KYC, least-privilege access, encryption, audit trails, threat modeling, and vulnerability remediation into services.
- Establish SLOs, error budgets, operational tooling, on-call practices, runbooks, and post-mortems.
- Set technical direction, lead design reviews, author RFCs and ADRs, mentor senior and staff engineers, and shape the technical roadmap.
Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale.
- Demonstrated experience leading zero-to-one technical efforts such as greenfield service design, platform bootstrapping, or new-market launches.
- Deep backend expertise with service-oriented architectures, event-driven architectures, RESTful and asynchronous APIs, and relational or distributed databases.
- Strong security and compliance experience, particularly in fintech, banking, payments, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
- Ability to influence across engineering, product, legal, and operations stakeholders without direct authority.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to technical and executive audiences.
- Preferred experience building financial products for emerging markets and working with payments infrastructure such as card rails, ACH, real-time payment networks, mobile money, or digital wallets.
- Preferred familiarity with AML/KYC frameworks, PCI-DSS, or SOC 2 and experience integrating with financial institutions, fintechs, or licensed payment processors via APIs.
- Open-source or engineering-community contributions through publications, talks, or tooling are a plus.
