Responsibilities
- Own and govern data ingestion and integration architecture for the enterprise data platform.
- Define scalable, reusable, production-grade data interfaces and ingestion frameworks across batch, streaming, API-based, and event-driven architectures.
- Provide technical leadership and design authority for ingestion and integration components, architecture standards, and high-risk design reviews.
- Establish standards for structured and unstructured data, schema evolution, API design, reliability, error handling, retries, orchestration, monitoring, and observability.
- Guide and mentor distributed software and data engineering teams building ingestion services and platform components.
- Maintain reusable libraries, templates, architecture blueprints, design guidelines, and lakehouse platform patterns.
- Collaborate with platform architecture, cybersecurity, infrastructure, system owners, business IT, and global stakeholders.
- Support scalability, performance optimization, cost transparency, usage optimization, and advanced data science, machine learning, and AI/LLM integration use cases.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 6–10 years of experience in software engineering and data platform development focused on large-scale, enterprise-grade systems.
- Proven technical leadership and architectural ownership in distributed systems or data platforms.
- Strong production software engineering experience with Scala or Java and Python.
- Deep understanding of data integration patterns including APIs, change data capture, streaming, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience designing and governing reusable frameworks, platform components, and engineering standards.
- Knowledge of version control, automated testing, CI/CD, and observability practices.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or another hyperscaler environment.
- Familiarity with lakehouse and data warehousing architectures; Databricks experience is preferred.
- Ability to guide and mentor engineers and collaborate across global teams and stakeholders.
- Candidates whose experience is primarily notebook-based processing, dashboarding/BI, or SQL-only work without software engineering experience are not a fit.
