Lead Observability Platform Engineer

Responsibilities
- Own the platform’s technical architecture, including telemetry pipelines, storage schemas, API contracts, integration patterns, and multi-tenancy.
- Lead technical design reviews, document architectural decisions, and evaluate new components and patterns.
- Provide engineering input to the platform roadmap regarding feasibility, cost, risk, and sequencing.
- Work hands-on with OpenTelemetry collectors, Cribl Stream, ClickHouse, Grafana, and Redis.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design collaboration, and ongoing technical guidance.
- Manage technical debt and maintain engineering quality across the platform.
- Partner with SRE, DevOps, product, and business stakeholders on reliability, deployment, scaling, and operational readiness.
Requirements
- Extensive platform or backend engineering experience with technical leadership on complex distributed systems.
- Deep hands-on experience with at least two of OpenTelemetry, Cribl, ClickHouse, Grafana, and Redis.
- Strong knowledge of telemetry pipeline design, data storage at scale, and multi-tenant platform architecture.
- Experience leading design reviews, setting engineering standards, and maintaining code quality across a team.
- Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform and familiarity with GitOps-based delivery practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for distributed, cross-time-zone teams.
- Preferred experience designing internal developer-facing platforms or self-service tooling.
- Preferred experience with REST or event-driven API integration patterns, cloud and on-premises platforms, ClickHouse SQL, PromQL, or equivalent query languages.
- Experience in regulated, financial services, or large enterprise technology environments is desirable.
