Responsibilities
- Analyze customer and system requirements for production driver-monitoring systems and implement corresponding software.
- Implement, evaluate, and improve in-cabin perception software using technologies such as MATLAB/Simulink, C++, and Python.
- Conduct DRBFM, functional safety, SOTIF, and other safety and quality activities throughout the development process.
- Develop and improve tools to automate development workflows.
- Assist with project schedules, deliverables, and customer satisfaction management.
- Collaborate with other developers and contractors on software implementation.
- Communicate and coordinate deliverables with Toyota and other suppliers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering field.
- Experience with production product development, including requirements analysis and product implementation.
- At least 2–3 years of software development experience using C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, or another major programming language.
- Interest in and foundational knowledge of automotive safety or quality areas such as DRBFM, ISO 26262 functional safety, ISO 21448 SOTIF, or quality audits.
- Japanese proficiency equivalent to JLPT N1 or higher and basic conversational English proficiency.
- Preferred: experience with automotive communications or embedded communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, or SPI.
- Preferred: practical experience with DRBFM, ISO 26262, SOTIF, production quality audits, or quality assurance.
- Preferred: experience developing or evaluating image-recognition or human-sensing systems.
- Preferred: knowledge of data science or data analytics.
- Preferred: experience with Agile/Scrum, CI/CD toolchains, or software development on AWS.
- Preferred: work experience outside Japan or business-level English proficiency.
