Base Salary
$205k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable backend services and REST, gRPC, and GraphQL APIs.
- Collaborate with frontend, product, and design teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Integrate AI capabilities through pipelines, inference management, or external AI API orchestration.
- Improve service reliability through deployment, monitoring, observability, logging, and continuous integration practices.
- Operate production systems end-to-end, including deployment, incident response, performance tuning, and cost optimization.
- Handle sensitive healthcare and payment data with strong security, privacy, and compliance practices.
- Document technical processes and create standard operating procedures for the engineering team.
- Drive backend architecture decisions involving system design, data models, and service interfaces.
- Mentor teammates and elevate backend engineering practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5+ years of experience in backend engineering roles.
- Proficiency in one or more of Go, Java, Python, or TypeScript.
- Deep knowledge of REST, gRPC, and GraphQL.
- Experience supporting production systems end-to-end, including development, deployment, and monitoring.
- Exposure to AI/ML services through API integration or internal tooling is a bonus.
- Experience with regulated data domains such as healthcare or financial services is a bonus.
- Ability to work 5 days per week in the San Francisco office with a fully in-person team.
