Base Salary
$148k - $222k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and operate cloud-native security services used across Klaviyo.
- Own components and services end to end from implementation through production operation.
- Improve the availability, scalability, latency, efficiency, reliability, and security of infrastructure systems.
- Identify and resolve performance, reliability, and security issues in distributed systems.
- Build tooling, automation, and documentation that improve developer experience and security posture.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, technical discussions, and whiteboarding sessions.
- Contribute to monitoring, alerting, incident response, on-call operations, and reduction of operational toil.
- Partner with product-facing and platform engineers to deliver secure solutions.
- Mentor and support other engineers and help refine technical specifications.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience building and operating cloud-native distributed systems in production.
- Production-quality programming experience with Python or Go.
- Hands-on experience with AWS or a similar cloud provider, including managed services, networking, and IAM concepts.
- Experience with containers and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Experience writing infrastructure as code with Terraform.
- Knowledge of scalable multi-tenant architectures, secure system design, reliability, performance, observability, and security.
- Ability to participate in on-call rotations, respond to production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and prevent recurrence.
- Ability to lead technical discussions, write design documents and RFCs, and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to design and code reviews.
- Preferred experience includes security tooling, Vault, AWS IAM, WAFs, service meshes, API gateways, zero-trust architectures, and performance debugging in distributed systems.
- Experience experimenting with AI and willingness to learn and use AI tools responsibly.
