
Staff Software Engineer

- Lead the technical design and architecture of scalable, reliable, and low-latency experimentation services.
- Build and evolve a centralized, vendor-agnostic experimentation platform across web, iOS, Android, and CTV surfaces.
- Enable edge and server-side testing while minimizing performance impact on end users.
- Design systems that ensure data integrity, source-of-truth metrics, and automated experiment analysis and reporting.
- Automate experimentation workflows from ideation through results to increase testing velocity and quality.
- Set technical direction, guide architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and promote engineering and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with product, editorial, analytics, platform, and other engineering partners to drive adoption and alignment.
- Treat internal experimentation tooling as a product measured by adoption, reliability, performance, and impact.
Requirements
- Deep experience designing and building distributed systems or platform services used by multiple teams.
- Strong backend engineering experience with APIs, data pipelines, and services, especially Node.js, plus familiarity with frontend engineering using TypeScript, JavaScript, Vue, or React.
- Experience designing performant, low-latency systems operating at scale.
- Experience with experimentation, feature flagging, analytics, or data platforms.
- Understanding of data quality, observability, and production measurement.
- Ability to set technical direction for complex problem spaces and guide architecture beyond the immediate team.
- Experience navigating ambiguous, cross-cutting challenges involving teams, vendors, and platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical tradeoffs to non-engineering partners.
- Track record of influencing without authority and driving alignment across senior stakeholders.
- Familiarity with edge compute, CDN-based architectures, or server-side experimentation.
- Experience integrating and optimizing deployment pipelines.
- Fluency in English.
- Exposure to media, content, or consumer-scale digital products is preferred.
- Interest in applying AI or automation to experimentation workflows is preferred.
- Kafka, Go, Rust, or content management systems experience is preferred.
