Responsibilities
- Write, review, test, and ship production code for HSBC Productivity Suite.
- Design and deliver significant Generative AI capabilities and integrations from requirements through production operation.
- Make technical design decisions, clarify ambiguity, break down complex requirements, and provide technical direction within an engineering pod.
- Build secure, resilient, maintainable services and apply engineering controls across testing, deployment, monitoring, observability, and production support.
- Improve shared frameworks, platforms, and reusable capabilities while reducing duplication and technical debt.
- Use AI coding tools and agents safely to improve software development lifecycle quality and delivery.
- Participate in production incidents, lead reviews, restore service, and implement practical improvements.
- Mentor engineers through pairing, design and code reviews, knowledge sharing, and practical support.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience designing, coding, testing, and operating significant applications or product capabilities.
- Strong Python expertise and practical knowledge of application programming interfaces, microservices, databases, containers, automated testing, and continuous integration and delivery.
- Experience building AI, machine learning, or Generative AI solutions and moving them from experimentation into secure, reliable production use.
- Practical knowledge of large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, evaluation, guardrails, observability, and responsible AI.
- Effective use of AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, with interest in building agents that improve software development.
- Sound engineering judgment across performance, security, resilience, maintainability, accessibility, technical debt, and production operability.
- Ability to clarify ambiguous requirements and deliver robust solutions with limited oversight.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills in a global engineering team.
