Responsibilities
- Drive and document cross-cutting architectural decisions involving storage, materialization, enrichment, and platform design.
- Own multi-tenant data integrity and access-control invariants across the platform.
- Design pipeline and schema-evolution patterns for new datasets, interaction types, enrichments, and reporting flows.
- Lead technical design for major platform, hybrid-integration, and AI-agent initiatives.
- Evaluate build-versus-buy and relational, wide-column, and OLAP storage choices using proofs of concept or benchmarks.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers on distributed systems, data modeling, and technical trade-offs.
- Represent engineering in cross-team architecture reviews and author architecture documentation.
- Personally implement high-risk, high-leverage components of major initiatives.
- Improve platform reliability, observability, and incident-response practices across application and data layers.
- Promote responsible evaluation of AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with technical leadership beyond individual contributions.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, consistency models, failure modes, and data consistency guarantees.
- Strong backend engineering experience across multiple languages or stacks, such as Java and TypeScript/Node.js.
- Experience with event-driven and streaming architectures using Kafka or equivalent and Flink, Spark Streaming, or Kafka Streams.
- Deep experience with relational or wide-column data stores at scale and non-disruptive schema design.
- Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS systems with tenant isolation and authorization models.
- Experience making and documenting difficult technical trade-offs through RFCs, design documents, or equivalent.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical direction without direct management authority.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred: experience with row-level or policy-based authorization, identity resolution, LLM-based agents, MCP, A2A coordination, platform migration, hybrid integration, customer experience or survey platforms, and greenfield platform architecture.
