Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality AI-native prototypes, platforms, and services that can evolve into secure, reliable, scalable, and supportable production solutions.
- Define architecture and design patterns for complex feature areas or subsystems, emphasizing simplicity, maintainability, responsible AI, and extensibility.
- Convert ambiguous customer and business problems into technical hypotheses, rapid experiments, measurable success criteria, and evidence-based engineering decisions.
- Lead architecture, implementation, evaluation, observability, rollout, and risk mitigation for cross-team initiatives while remaining hands-on in critical code paths.
- Collaborate across engineering, product management, design, applied science, and Microsoft 365 partner teams.
- Mentor and develop engineers through design reviews, code reviews, technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and inclusive team practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Seven or more years of hands-on software design and coding experience in languages such as C#, C++, Java, Python, or TypeScript is preferred.
- Experience designing and implementing large-scale cloud services, distributed systems, developer platforms, or cross-application experiences is preferred.
- Experience building or integrating AI/ML systems, generative AI applications, agents, retrieval and grounding systems, evaluation pipelines, or model-enabled product experiences is preferred.
- Preferred qualifications include technical leadership, cross-group collaboration, written communication, and the ability to create clarity in ambiguous problem spaces.
- Knowledge of automated deployments, integrated quality gates, secure development, observability, experimentation, and modern version control systems such as Git is preferred.
- Experience applying security, privacy, compliance, and responsible AI principles to product and platform design is preferred.
