Base Salary
$267k - $297k/yr
Responsibilities
- Partner with senior technical and organizational leaders to identify opportunities to evolve the Uber One membership program.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, data scientists, and designers to design, build, and optimize products used by millions of members globally.
- Architect robust, highly available, and scalable systems for complex and ambiguous technical challenges.
- Align teams on tradeoffs among technical designs and solutions.
- Drive technical strategy for platform evolution, API design, and system architecture.
- Own architecture reviews, systemic technical debt reduction, observability, and organization-level incident response.
- Define engineering standards and cultivate technical excellence, velocity, and quality across the organization.
- Lead technical projects end-to-end from inception and design through global deployment and productionization.
- Mentor and coach staff and senior engineers through technical guidance and thought leadership.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale systems.
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Expertise in one or more programming languages, including Go, Java, Python, Kotlin, Swift, or C++.
- Deep knowledge of algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, system design, and software architecture.
- Proven ownership of critical large-scale platforms and infrastructure services.
- Experience identifying architectural gaps and creating organization-wide frameworks that improve developer velocity and reduce systemic technical debt.
- Experience defining standards for testing, monitoring, and alerting and overseeing complex incident management at an organizational level.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners around a technical vision.
- Preferred experience creating and optimizing marketplace features, including real-time marketplace platforms requiring high consistency and global reliability.
- Ability to navigate complex organizational and business needs, identify consumer needs through research and data, and deliver customer and company impact.
- Strong cross-company technical collaboration and communication skills.
- Full-stack experience designing, building, debugging, and optimizing applications across backend servers and Android/iOS apps.
