Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend services, APIs, integrations, and event-driven solutions for digital commerce and order-management workflows.
- Build maintainable software using design patterns, testing practices, security controls, and coding standards.
- Integrate Shopify, IBM Order Management System, subscription and billing systems, fulfillment services, and internal or external partners.
- Participate in technical design reviews addressing scalability, performance, security, resiliency, and maintainability.
- Troubleshoot application, integration, and production issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Own DevOps practices for assigned services, including CI/CD, automated testing, deployment automation, release readiness, rollback strategies, and environment configuration.
- Build production operational capabilities including logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, alerts, health checks, runbooks, and service-level indicators.
- Deploy, configure, scale, monitor, and troubleshoot containerized workloads using Azure and Kubernetes.
- Participate in on-call and production-support activities and improve incident response, reliability, and recovery practices.
- Collaborate with DevOps and SRE partners on cloud architecture, infrastructure automation, monitoring, security, scalability, and operational improvements.
- Use AI-assisted development practices and tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve productivity, quality, testing, documentation, automation, and troubleshooting.
- Mentor less-experienced engineers through design discussions, code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in hiring activities and communicate technical status, risks, dependencies, and decisions to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Five or more years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Strong hands-on experience developing backend applications, microservices, APIs, and integrations.
- Proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Java, Python, Node.js, or a comparable language.
- Experience designing and consuming REST and GraphQL APIs, including security, versioning, documentation, and performance considerations.
- Experience with data modeling, asynchronous processing, event-driven architectures, service integrations, and relational or NoSQL databases.
- Experience writing automated unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end tests.
- Experience with Git-based development, pull requests, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release management.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native application development.
- Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including deployment, configuration, scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, configuration management, environment promotion, secrets management, and automated operational processes.
- Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, including logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, alerts, and incident troubleshooting.
- Strong experience using AI coding assistants, AI-based automation, or AI-enabled developer productivity tools with responsible and secure AI adoption.
- Preferred experience includes eCommerce, Shopify integrations, Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, Drools, Spring Boot, Terraform, Datadog, secure software development, subscription commerce, vehicle services, digital activation, and customer-facing transactional systems.
- Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, ownership, and incident-troubleshooting abilities.
