Base Salary
$115k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and lead development of a high-throughput, event-driven performance calculation engine on AWS.
- Drive the migration of legacy performance reporting applications to a modern cloud-native platform.
- Design distributed systems using Python, Apache Kafka, PySpark, and AWS services.
- Define data modeling, schema design, observability, alerting, runbook, and reliability standards.
- Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, iterative delivery, technical design documentation, and code reviews.
- Establish comprehensive unit, integration, functional, and performance test coverage.
- Research and evaluate open-source technologies and AWS services for adoption.
- Mentor and lead a global engineering team, provide feedback, and support career development.
- Partner with business analysts, operations stakeholders, architecture, data platform, and infrastructure teams.
- Communicate technical trade-offs and roadmap recommendations to senior leadership.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
- Expert-level Python experience, including asynchronous patterns, performance optimization, and library ecosystems.
- 5+ years of cloud-native development experience on AWS, including Lambda, Step Functions, Batch, S3, Athena, and Glue.
- Experience supervising and guiding software development teams.
- Experience architecting highly available, distributed, event-driven systems.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or equivalent streaming or messaging platforms.
- Strong experience with relational databases, SQL, and NoSQL data stores such as DynamoDB.
- Strong data modeling expertise across relational, columnar, key-value, and streaming patterns.
- Experience delivering through Agile/Scrum methodologies and leading legacy modernization initiatives.
- Strong communication skills with technical teams and non-technical business users.
- Fluency in applying AI and generative AI to engineering productivity, including integration strategy, code review, test-case creation, and code generation.
- Financial services experience, particularly portfolio performance calculations, NAV/returns, or risk metrics, is a plus.
- Experience with PySpark, Terraform, Snowflake, microservices, serverless technologies, CI/CD pipelines, and code quality tooling is preferred.
- Experience with C# and .NET software development is a plus.
