$79k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable distributed-system components and optimize systems for large-scale data retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Build fault-tolerant components using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, retries, circuit breakers, timeouts, and recovery-oriented principles.
- Develop functional, performance, load, fault-injection, and brown-out tests for system correctness, scalability, and availability.
- Create alarms, dashboards, telemetry, alerting, runbooks, and operational procedures to monitor and recover system components.
- Diagnose and resolve operational issues, develop troubleshooting automation and tooling, and participate in support rotations, incident response, and root-cause investigations.
- Apply encryption, access controls, security remediation, compliance practices, and documentation standards for multi-tenant cloud infrastructure.
- Maintain infrastructure-as-code automation and follow change-management processes for patching, updates, and rollbacks.
- Collaborate across teams, track work with limited supervision, prioritize changing requirements, and contribute to continuous process improvement and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–5+ years of software engineering experience building reliable services, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
- Strong programming skills in at least one systems or backend language, including Java, Go, Rust, C, C++, or Python; Rust is a strong plus for systems-oriented work.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networking, concurrency, and distributed-systems fundamentals.
- Experience or strong interest in cloud infrastructure, virtualization, Linux systems, storage, networking, security, schedulers, control planes, or management planes.
- Ability to design, build, test, and debug reliable software in a large and evolving codebase.
- Understanding of fault tolerance, replication, synchronization, observability, incident response, automation, and infrastructure as code.
