Base Salary
$124k - $329k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate high-scale pipelines for logs, metrics, traces, and exceptions.
- Lead cross-team efforts to remove scaling bottlenecks and safely evolve production infrastructure.
- Write and maintain production software primarily in Go and Ruby.
- Configure and integrate open-source and commercial observability tools.
- Work across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, virtual machines, networking, and service connectivity.
- Partner with service teams to improve observability and service diagnosis tools.
- Own system health through monitoring, incident response, on-call participation, and operational improvements.
- Provide technical leadership through design proposals, reviews, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in software engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline with production software experience, or qualifying equivalent education and experience.
- 3+ years building and operating production services or infrastructure in a cloud or large-scale distributed environment.
- 2+ years deploying, configuring, or troubleshooting production workloads with Kubernetes or comparable container orchestration.
- 2+ years developing production software in Go, Ruby, or a comparable general-purpose language.
- Preferred: experience building or operating shared platforms for engineering teams.
- Preferred: experience with logging, metrics, distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry concepts or tooling, and telemetry platforms such as Datadog.
- Preferred: experience with Azure or another major cloud platform and hybrid or self-managed infrastructure.
- Preferred: familiarity with networking, service connectivity, distributed-systems operations, cross-team technical leadership, and mentoring.
