Base Salary
$165k - $315k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the organization’s security logging, telemetry, and SIEM strategy.
- Design scalable security solutions and implementation patterns across multiple technical domains and portfolios.
- Onboard and optimize security data sources, pipelines, normalization, parsing, enrichment, and data quality.
- Lead complex security engineering implementations and cross-functional matrixed delivery teams.
- Build prototypes and proofs of concept for emerging security technologies and influence enterprise prioritization.
- Translate business, security, and engineering objectives into achievable controls and oversee their implementation.
- Analyze threat and compliance trends and represent USAA with auditors, regulators, and external suppliers.
- Advise senior executives and architects on security engineering risk, compliance, and technical decisions.
- Develop security telemetry and detection capabilities supporting analytics, automation, threat hunting, and security operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or four years of relevant education and/or experience.
- At least eight years of related experience in security engineering and/or information technology.
- Expert security consulting skills and advanced knowledge of security technologies and information security or cybersecurity principles.
- Mastery of complex system and environment analysis, design, optimization, and hardening.
- Strong relationship management, communication, and technical influence skills across technical, nontechnical, executive, and cross-functional audiences.
- Deep expertise with SIEM platforms such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Google SecOps, Elastic, or QRadar, or security logging in data lakes such as Snowflake or Databricks.
- Experience engineering security telemetry across cloud, on-premises, application, identity, and endpoint data sources.
- Experience building scalable data pipelines with technologies such as Kafka, Cribl, Kinesis, Event Hubs, data lake architectures, or cloud-native services.
- Advanced knowledge of security operations, threat detection engineering, threat hunting, incident response, and MITRE ATT&CK.
- Proficiency in scripting, automation, and data analysis with Python, PowerShell, SQL, or similar technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead enterprise-wide security data and observability initiatives.
