Responsibilities

Design, build, review, debug, and own backend-heavy full-stack features and services end to end.
Build highly available, resilient, scalable, and maintainable systems for peak-demand emergency events.
Break down ambiguous problems, drive deliverables to completion, and make trade-offs across availability, latency, reliability, cost, and maintainability.
Instrument systems, use metrics to validate impact, and improve system performance.
Partner with product, operations, and business stakeholders to align engineering work with customer and business outcomes.
Anticipate failure modes and contribute to operational excellence and surge readiness during storm events.
Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge, and promote ownership and high engineering standards.
Leverage AI-powered tools and workflows to improve development productivity and quality.

4–5 years of demonstrable software development experience building production systems.
Strong proficiency in high-level programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript, with backend-heavy full-stack capability.
Experience building highly available, maintainable, and scalable production systems.
Understanding of non-functional requirements including availability, scalability, reliability, latency, cost, and maintainability.
Metric-driven approach to instrumentation, measurement, and decision-making.
Strong problem-solving, rigorous reasoning, autonomy, ownership, and ability to decompose complex problems.
Active use of AI tools to improve engineering productivity.
Preferred experience with high-stakes, time-sensitive, or surge-driven systems such as emergency response, logistics, marketplaces, or workforce platforms.
Preferred familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Preferred experience with observability, on-call, operational excellence, and mission-critical services.
Preferred experience mentoring peers or junior engineers.
Exposure to workforce management, procurement, or supply-and-demand matching domains is preferred.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
