Staff Software Engineer - Collaborative Web Platform

Responsibilities
- Own the architecture of a real-time content platform, including data models, synchronization protocols, APIs, and client-side state management.
- Build backend services for collaborative editing, conflict resolution, and content delivery across distributed cloud infrastructure.
- Build frontend systems for visual real-time editing, page building, and publishing workflows.
- Own the integration layer between the editing experience and the platform, including APIs, webhooks, and the developer-facing extension model.
- Define engineering standards for API design, testing, performance, and observability.
- Evaluate third-party services, libraries, and infrastructure components using build-versus-buy tradeoffs.
- Partner with product and design on architecture, interaction models, technical strategies, and phased delivery plans.
- Mentor engineers through code review, pairing, architecture feedback, and technical documentation.
- Engage with customers and partners to validate architectural assumptions and integration patterns.
Requirements
- 10+ years of overall software engineering experience.
- Strong production experience across backend APIs, data services, cloud infrastructure, interactive user interfaces, component systems, and browser performance.
- Experience building real-time or collaborative systems, event-driven architectures, or live data synchronization.
- Experience designing and operating cloud-native services in GCP, AWS, Cloudflare, or Azure, including containerization and modern deployment pipelines.
- Strong API design expertise involving REST, GraphQL, and event-driven interfaces.
- Expertise in frontend architecture, including component modeling, state management, rendering performance, and the browser platform.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with visual or low-code editing interfaces, CMS architectures, developer-facing platforms or extension systems, and open-source web tooling is preferred.
