Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of complex initiatives spanning multiple teams and systems from concept through production.
- Own and evolve the architecture of critical systems for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Drive technical strategy, simplify systems, reduce complexity, and improve engineering velocity.
- Partner with Product, Design, and cross-functional stakeholders to define actionable solutions with measurable customer impact.
- Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards through guidance, design reviews, and hands-on collaboration.
- Promote best practices for code quality, testing, observability, and operational excellence.
- Identify and address system-wide risks, performance bottlenecks, and scaling challenges.
- Champion AI and emerging technologies to improve developer productivity and enable new capabilities.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading the design and delivery of large-scale distributed systems in production.
- Strong backend expertise, preferably with Java or Kotlin, and the ability to contribute across the full stack.
- Experience designing scalable architectures and making technical tradeoffs across multiple systems and teams.
- Experience navigating ambiguity and aligning stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.
- Track record of technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and influencing engineering standards.
- Deep understanding of microservices architectures, system design, performance, reliability, and observability.
- Ability to decompose complex problems into strategies and guide teams through execution.
- Strong product and customer mindset with a history of delivering meaningful user and business impact.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across organizational boundaries.
- Experience using AI-based tools or platforms to improve engineering effectiveness or enable product capabilities.
