Base Salary
$85k - $184k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, and maintain cloud-scale services and platform components for security-critical and highly regulated environments.
- Build systems supporting security, compliance, management, and reliability scenarios for internal platforms and customer-facing services.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code and participate in design discussions, architecture reviews, and code reviews.
- Collaborate with security, operations, program management, compliance, and partner engineering teams.
- Investigate and resolve live-site issues, using telemetry, data, and customer feedback to improve performance, reliability, and security.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations and respond to incidents to restore service safely and quickly.
- Apply secure-by-design practices, including threat modeling and defense in depth, throughout the development lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience, with proven coding experience.
- Preferred: bachelor’s degree plus 1+ year of technical engineering experience, a related master’s degree, or equivalent experience.
- Coding experience with languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements.
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance.
- Successful verification of the stated security clearance and U.S. citizenship.
- Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Preferred experience with CI/CD systems, infrastructure as code, Azure, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, observability, monitoring, deployment automation, and regulated or government environments.
- Preferred knowledge of software engineering fundamentals, secure development practices, service operations, and service reliability engineering practices.
Benefits
- Typical U.S. base pay range is USD $85,400–$168,100 per year; San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan areas have a separate range of USD $111,100–$183,700 per year.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
