Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and execute automated chaos experiments and reliability tests for Camunda’s platform.
- Investigate, root-cause, and debug failures and performance regressions in Java-based products.
- Improve load-testing, chaos-engineering, observability, and reliability infrastructure.
- Introduce tooling and approaches that improve operational experience and user outcomes.
- Develop reproducible load-testing frameworks, analyze performance limits, and enable engineering teams to rerun tests.
- Collaborate with QA, engineering, and field teams and influence roadmaps based on experiment findings.
- Document reliability and performance findings for internal teams and users.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering with Java.
- Experience or willingness to conduct automated reliability and chaos testing in distributed environments.
- Strong interest in improving performance and fault tolerance in production systems.
- Autonomous, pragmatic problem-solving skills with the ability to guide and influence others.
- Ability and willingness to use Camunda products from a user’s perspective.
- Preferred: Go or other programming-language experience in a multi-language environment.
- Preferred: SRE experience with distributed systems and a strong software engineering background.
- Preferred: Kubernetes, Helm Charts, Operators, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance-analysis experience.
- Preferred: Background in chaos engineering, automated reliability testing, load testing, or performance testing.
