Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for enterprise email messaging solutions.
- Design and develop scalable, resilient, cloud-native email delivery platforms.
- Lead technical design discussions and establish engineering best practices across multiple teams.
- Build highly available SMTP-based messaging services with strong performance and observability.
- Address email routing, deliverability, security, infrastructure, and performance challenges.
- Drive architectural decisions, engineering standards, and the long-term technical roadmap.
- Mentor senior developers and promote technical excellence.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, Engineering, Security, DevOps, and Cloud Operations.
Requirements
- 15+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience designing distributed enterprise applications.
- Deep expertise with SMTP and message transfer agents such as KumoMTA, Postfix, PowerMTA, or Exim.
- Knowledge of email standards and technologies including MIME, DSN, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, SMTP AUTH, STARTTLS/TLS, and DNS records such as MX, TXT, and PTR.
- Experience operating high-volume email delivery platforms, including routing, queues, retries, bounce processing, suppression management, sender reputation, IP warming, throttling, and ISP-specific optimization.
- Strong programming experience in Java, Python, or Rust, with concurrent, asynchronous, and network programming expertise.
- Experience building cloud-native microservices with Docker, Kubernetes, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms with tenant isolation, scalability, security, and high availability.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK, or OpenSearch for observability.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Infrastructure as Code, and modern DevOps practices.
- Strong debugging, performance tuning, distributed-systems troubleshooting, communication, technical leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent discipline.
