Responsibilities
- Own and guide architecture decisions across multiple engineering workstreams in alignment with the event-driven platform strategy.
- Establish and govern standards for event infrastructure, schema management, messaging patterns, error handling, and standardized event structures.
- Define and maintain domain event contracts and schemas for compatibility and scalability across services.
- Partner with DevOps and engineering teams on production rollout strategies, traffic ramping, validation, and stabilization.
- Guide feature-flagged incremental deployments and safe rollback strategies.
- Review architectural and schema changes for compatibility, quality, and appropriate testing.
- Mentor engineers, resolve cross-team dependencies, and unblock complex technical challenges.
Requirements
- Deep hands-on experience designing and implementing event-driven architectures on AWS, including services such as EventBridge, SQS, Step Functions, and Schema Registry.
- Experience leading incremental, feature-flagged migrations and modernization of legacy systems using strategies such as the strangler-fig pattern.
- Strong understanding of domain-driven event modeling, event contracts, and schema governance and versioning.
- Experience providing technical leadership across multiple engineering teams or workstreams.
- Strong experience with architectural governance, technical standards, design reviews, and distributed-service engineering patterns.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures, including asynchronous communication, service dependencies, fault tolerance, and reliable message processing.
- Experience designing and integrating APIs and backend services in event-driven and service-oriented architectures.
- Strong technical communication and decision-making skills, including communicating architectural trade-offs and aligning engineers and stakeholders.
- Experience designing safe deployment and rollout strategies with feature flags, traffic ramping, validation criteria, and rollback approaches.
- Experience in lending, financial services, fintech, or risk management is preferred.
