Responsibilities
- Scope and shape AI platform initiatives from early concepts through implementation, influencing build-versus-buy, cloud-native, open-source, and LLM technology decisions.
- Design, develop, and maintain Python backend services, APIs, microservices, and ETL pipelines running in Azure or AWS.
- Translate requirements and problem statements into reliable code, proof-of-concepts, and technical plans for production.
- Build and iterate LLM-based and agentic AI applications with attention to reliability, quality, and AI limitations.
- Collaborate with Cloud Operations, Solution Architecture, Product Engineering, Product Management, and subject-matter experts.
- Lead technical approaches from design through implementation and provide mentorship or technical guidance to other engineers.
- Test, validate, automate, and continuously improve solutions through unit testing and iterative development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience.
- At least 4 years of Python backend development experience, including APIs, microservices, and ETL pipelines.
- At least 5 years of experience working in cross-functional teams.
- At least 3 years of experience working with LLMs or agentic AI applications and understanding their reliability challenges.
- Experience contributing to or defining software architecture for complex systems.
- Experience with AI/ML workflows such as RAG, vector databases, or evaluation techniques.
- Experience working in Azure or AWS cloud environments, including deploying or integrating backend services.
- Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other engineers is desirable.
- Experience evaluating or integrating applications written in Java or TypeScript is relevant to the role.
