Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end software architecture for a globally distributed microservices platform.
- Define and govern service boundaries, data flows, event patterns, deployment topologies, observability, fault tolerance, and recovery.
- Lead the technical evolution of a Linux-based Java microservices ecosystem and integration architecture.
- Architect deployment patterns across constrained edge environments and centralized or cloud-heavy environments.
- Oversee architecture for peripheral and device services to ensure deployments remain observable, supportable, and maintainable.
- Support integrations with government, commercial, customer-specific, identity, travel, partner, and edge-hardware ecosystems.
- Design upgrade paths and event replay or offline synchronization patterns for highly available platforms.
Requirements
- An active Top Secret SCI clearance is required; TS/SCI is the minimum clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or four additional years of experience in lieu of the degree.
- 15+ years of software engineering experience, including architecture leadership for distributed or mission-critical systems.
- At least five years of experience architecting production microservices-based platforms.
- Hands-on expertise with Java, JDK 21 or later, Linux, and distributed systems.
- Strong experience with MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Logstash, RabbitMQ, and tools such as Consul, Nomad, Vault, or Kubernetes.
- Experience with Vue.js 3 and modern frontend architecture is desired.
- Experience with hybrid cloud and edge deployment patterns, standards-based ecosystem integrations, low-downtime upgrades, event replay or offline sync, and edge hardware integrations is desired.
- An active Polygraph is a plus.
- Occasional project travel of approximately 10% may be required.
