Responsibilities
- Write advanced and complex code, complete complex bug fixes, and serve as a senior technical source of expertise.
- Set architectural standards, recommend technical strategy, contribute to architecture evolution, and develop technical standards.
- Review work for compliance with enterprise and architectural standards and processes.
- Manage system and user acceptance testing cycles and support test-driven development practices.
- Design and work with complex data models, including normalized and dimensional models, optimization, tuning, and data manipulation.
- Mentor engineers and lead software developers on development methodologies and optimization techniques.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for customers, end users, stakeholders, and external technology resources.
- Troubleshoot complex project issues and system outages, identify alternatives and risks, and coordinate required resources.
- Write and review detailed specifications for system components.
- Support project planning, prioritization, change management, delegation, and coordination across multiple functional groups.
Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science, or equivalent experience; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Industrywide or broad companywide technical knowledge and specialized coding skills.
- Expertise with complex systems, software architecture, development best practices, data modeling, data manipulation, optimization, and multiple data storage subsystems.
- Expertise in test-driven development, testing practices, and applicable development tools.
- Experience with Java/J2EE, JavaScript, JSP, C/C++, HTML, XML, SQL, Windows, UNIX, and .Net.
- Experience partnering with and leading internal and external technology resources, including managed services or staff augmentation models.
- Strong organization, project planning, time management, change management, delegation, communication, presentation, customer service, and advanced problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of budgeting and finance, research skills, and the ability to adapt to new roles and responsibilities.
